E arlier today, Game Informer Digital encountered a massive leak, as the entire cover story has been made available online. The cover story for The Elder Scrolls Online is not slated for public release until their June issue hits the shelves, but someone leaked the article for viewing online.
The article is roughly 19 pages long, and features a lot of information, mainly detailing the development process and gameplay experiences. Here are some tidbits from the article worth noting:
- The plot is centralized around the Tharn Family (which you may remember from Arena) trying to rouse the Imperials to regain control of Tamriel. In doing so they make a pact with Mannimarco, the King of Worms, to fuel their war effort. Little do the Imperials now, they are being betrayed by Mannimarco to Molag Bol, who is trying to envelope Tamriel in his otherworld realm of Oblivion.
- The combat will be largely based on what the articles refers to “a World of Warcraft” type system, which is traditional to MMOs. The difference is the inclusion of a Stamina Bar, which will allow the player to counter attacks from their foes at the cost of Stamina. This promises to add more strategy and pre-planning to each battle.
- The game will be displayed from the traditional 3rd person MMO POV, unlike previous Elder Scrolls games which strive to give you a first person experience.
- Your actions in quests will influence the world around your character, but not to the degree we see in previous Elder Scrolls titles.
