Great podcast and all that, but it bothered me how you responded to the guy who asked “the shield” question.
In some games, blocking is an active skill that blocks all incoming attacks, no matter what they are or from where. Wielding a sword, a shield or a fluffy kitten doesn’t make a difference. A block is a block.
In other games, blocking is a passive skill where, depending on your equipment, you partially or completely block attacks. There, a shield makes more sense since, due to its stats, it increases the chance of a successful block.
Some games do a combination of both. You have to actively raise your shield/sword/kitten in order for it to block an attack, and then, depending on item/stats, you partially or completely block incoming attacks.

You don’t know where this guy is coming from. It may seem obvious to you that a shield is better than a sword when blocking attacks but it might not be obvious to someone who has only played Street Fighter II on his Nintendo.

Hi Icenforce, we can’t argue with your point, because you’re correct. The fact is that when dealing with a lot of information, in order to keep listeners engaged, we try to make things entertaining. In this case, the question was out of place, no matter what the person may be used to, and we decided to have a laugh at the person’s expense. Most of the time, it comes off as ‘all in good fun’. However, sometimes we don’t sell the joke the right way, and we end up hurting some feelings or just sounding like arrogant jerks. I think this time, was a miss for us.

Please try to remember, it is all in good fun and next time we’ll try to be more careful. Thanks for you input and thanks for your support.
